Layered Vanilla Cake


Cake Ingredients

  • 300 g (2 ½ cups) cake flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp fine sea salt
  • 300 g (1 ½ cups) granulated sugar
  • 120 g (½ cup + 2 tbsp) neutral oil
  • 240 g (1 cup) yogurt
  • 240 g (1 cup) milk of your choice
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Rising Star Organic Vanilla Bean Paste 

Cake Instructions

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch pans. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk sugar, oil, yogurt, milk, vinegar, and Rising Star Vanilla bean paste. Add dry ingredients to wet and gently whisk until just combined. Divide  evenly among pans and bake for 22-24 minutes. Cool in pans for 15 minutes, then release to racks.  

     

Vanilla Bean Buttercream Ingredients

 

  • 454 g (2 cups / 4 sticks) butter, room temp
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 tbsp Rising Star Organic Vanilla Bean Paste
  • 560 g (4 ½ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 90–120 g (6–8 tbsp) milk of your choice, as needed 

 

Cake Instructions

 

  1. Beat butter on medium-high until pale and fluffy, 3–4 minutes. 

  2. Mix in salt and Rising Star vanilla bean paste.

  3. Add powdered sugar in 3–4 additions, alternating with milk, beating on low until incorporated. Increase to medium-high and whip until smooth and cloud-like. Adjust with more milk if necessary.
